Top 5 Best Graphics Card for Overwatch
Maybe you can think about what graphics card should I need for Overwatch. There are many graphics card and it is hard to choose the right one. We have listed some graphics card for playing Overwatch. So check our recommendations.
#1 Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 580 11265-05-20G
On top of my list is a powerful RX 580 from Sapphire. There are numerous reasons why this card is so great, but the two main reasons why you should buy it are – price and huge memory!
The graphics card has 8 GB DDR5 of graphics memory. Now, as you probably know, the more V-RAM (Video random access memory) your GPU has, the better the image quality. With this 8 GB of V-RAM, you can play Overwatch in any resolution you want! Well, 5K, but that’s actually close to perfection. The memory bus is 256-bit, which is quite good, and you also get 8000 MHz of effective memory clock. Furthermore, memory type is now standard DDR5, which is compatible with probably every newer motherboard.
The core clock is a bit lower in comparison to the memory. So, with Sapphire’s Radeon Pulse RX 580 you get 1366 MHz of boosted Engine clock. It’s not great but will be sufficient for enjoyable Overwatch play. The good news is that this GPU has 2304 stream processors, and that is more than enough for Overwatch minimum requirements.
Connectivity is also quite good – you get 5 output ports, and you can use them all simultaneously! What you get here are 1xDVI-D, 2xHDMI, and 2xDisplayPort 1.4. DisplayPort provides 5K resolution, HDMI 4K, and DVI-D 2K. Also, there is a dual cooling technology (2 fans) to cool down this card when heavy gaming. These fans are incredibly powerful and durable, so there is no need to worry about that for a long, long time.
- Great performance for this price – bang for the buck deal.
- High resolution (5K) and multiscreen (5 max) possibilities.
- Up-to-date DDR5 memory type.
- Two fans for efficient cooling – great for Overwatch!
- Core speed could have been higher, but still, it will be enough.
#2 EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti FTW Gaming Graphic Cards
EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 is one of the best GPU for Overwatch for those who want an excellent performance but are not willing to pay much. In the name of this card, you will find the word Gaming, which is more than you need to know about this GPU. Nevertheless, I will go further into details, and you can see why EVGA’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti FTW Gaming is on this list.
Let’s start with the memory, shall we? You will be a bit disappointed to find that this GPU has ‘only’ 4 GB of V-RAM. Now, don’t get me wrong, 4 GB is great, and is quite sufficient for gaming, especially Overwatch! But the card above has twice the V-RAM, which is still better. The memory clock is 7008 MHz, Memory bit width: 128-bit and Memory bandwidth is 112 GB/s. Of course, Memory type is, as said, now standard GDDR5. Pretty good memory, actually.
Now, the core speed is much better than the Radeon Pulse. With the base clock of 1379 MHz, which can be boosted to 1493 MHz, you can expect a quick response from this GPU. The number of CUDA cores is 768, which means that a high number of processes are being done at once.
Connectivity: Bus type is standard PCIe 3.0, and it takes one slot on your motherboard. It has an HDMI port, DisplayPort and Dual-Link DVI. So, three possibilities to choose from or use them simultaneously. The DisplayPort will provide a digital resolution of maximum 7680×4320! Incredible for this price! Still, for efficient gaming with at least 60fps, this quality will be much lower.
Cooling is also significant, with two fans working efficiently and powerfully, but sometimes a bit loudly, if you put this card to the test. Qualities like these don’t require much power; hence, the power consumption is 75W, and you will need at least 300W PSU. It is exceedingly power-efficient, like everything about this GPU.
- Incredibly fast GPU made for smooth gaming.
- Supports various motherboards and screens.
- Low and efficient power consumption.
- Very good performance for this price.
- You need an extremely powerful Power supply unit (PSU) to get the best out of this card.
#3 Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 OC 6G Graphics Card
One very powerful but cheap graphics card which is perfect for Overwatch. Maybe you will feel a bit skeptical when seeing that this GPU cost is less than 250 bucks, but you really shouldn’t. When buying Gigabyte’s GPUs, you don’t need to worry about their quality at all. It’s just how this company does business – they make great components and sell them for an affordable price.
What’s so great about this GPU, you ask? Well, for a start it has 6GB of V-RAM. If your sole purpose is playing Overwatch, then this is a great feature. The 6GB size is followed by 8002 MHz of Memory Clock. This is arguably the most you will get in this price range. The Memory type is up-to-date GDDR5, which is linkable with most modern motherboards. It has a 192-bit memory bus which is not unusual, but 128 and 256-bit buses are more common. If the 256-bit memory bus is excellent, then you know for sure that 192-bit is very good.
One of the many impressive qualities that this GPU has is definitely its speed! Having a base clock speed of 1830 MHz is something to be proud of, actually. And having this kind of clock speed in a GPU this cheap – it is almost impossible. You can play Overwatch and not feel a single fault in response speed. And you already know how important that is. Of course, the number of 1408 CUDA cores only makes things more pleasant. This combination gives pure hedonism when gaming.
When I said that the speed is ‘one of many impressive qualities’, I was thinking about connectivity and cooling as well. Let’s start with connectivity. First, I will mention that the Card bus is PCI-E 3.0, pretty much standard nowadays. But, what I was thinking about are the ports. Although you have only two options – one HDMI 2.0b and three DisplayPort 1.4, these four can be used simultaneously and in a very HD. Used together as four screens, they can reach a maximum digital resolution of 7680×4320. Used separately, that is, using only one port can get you 2K easily.
Before the mentioned cooling system is something that you don’t see every day. With two spinning fans that rotated in different directions (alternate spinning), you will get more cooling performance than usual. It’s called the ‘Windforce system’, and it is as powerful as the name suggests. Be that as it may, it can get a bit loud, to be honest.
- Possible using four screens in HQ at once.
- Impressive speed and performance.
- Very great connectivity.
- Fantastic cooling fans.
- Sometimes a bit louder.
#4 ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 DUAL-GTX1060-O3G
Our next recommendation is ASUS GeForce GTX 1060! An absolute speed monster when it comes to graphics cards in this price range! Even though the V-RAM is a bit lower in comparison with the other three cards, its speed makes up for everything.
When talking about memory, it is worth mentioning that this GPU has ‘only’ 3 GB of V-RAM. The difference in details between 3 GB and 4 GB is sometimes quite noticeable. Hence your picture quality might not be as perfect as you expected. Still good though. But the Memory Clock stands with 8008 MHz (super-fast), and Memory Interface is 192-bit! Also, the Memory Type is GDDR5, very up-to-date. There is also another version with 6 GB RAM. So, if 3 GB V-RAM is not enough, you can buy 6 GB version.
Now, the real speed! This GPU’s Engine clock stands with 1594 MHz of Base Clock, which can be overclocked to 1809 MHz! Also, gaming mode is quite close to this speed, with 1785 MHz! This overclocking is done with only one click using Tweak II. The number of CUDA Cores is 1152 – more than enough for Overwatch!
The Bus standard is PCI Express 3.0, and this beauty has five output ports! One DVI-D, two HDMIs 2.0, and two DisplayPort 1.4. So, five options, four of which can be used at once! If you connect your GPU with four screens using two HDMIs and two DisplayPorts, then you will have one great Overwatch experience. Even better with VR!
Powerful cooling is added, of course, since the high-speed will always overheat the card. But these two more cooling fans are robust, and you will need two slots on your motherboard for this GPU. Also, you will need at least 500W PSU!
- Incredibly fast – very important for gaming!
- Five outputs, four of which can be used simultaneously.
- Powerful cooling for longer GPU life.
- VR possibilities.
- Easy overclocking.
- Two card slots required.
#5 MSI GeForce GTX 1050 TI Gaming X 4G
I will add another GTX 1050 Ti model, but this time it’s from MSI. This popular NVIDIA’s GPU was manufactured by many different companies so far. Its popularity says everything about this card.
As you can see, this card shares the same name with the previous one, hence the similar specifications. It has 4GB of GDDR5 memory, 128-bit of memory width and 7008 MHz of memory speed. This latter one could be overclocked to add extra 100 MHz. It’s not much but still is an improvement.
Core speed is once again very good. You will get from 1392 in Silent mode to 1493 MHz in Overclocked mode. The gaming mode is something in between. The core has 768 processing units as well. The GPU is perfect for playing Overwatch in HQ with at least 60 fps.
It uses a PCI Express x16 3.0 interface and has various outputs. DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, and Dual-link DVI-D are available to choose from the card. All three can be used at once for multiscreen gaming. The maximum resolution for a single screen is 2560×1600, and the maximum digital resolution goes to 7680×4320. So, if you are brave enough, playing Overwatch on three screens will be insane!
What’s also great with this GPU is that it consumes 75W, which means that one PSU of about 300W would suffice. So the GPU is also likely to last longer. Also, a dual-cooling system will make sure that this GPU won’t overheat. Note: strong overclocking may lead to overheating too much.
- Ultra-fast and high performance.
- Light power consumption usually means longer life.
- A very good resolution for visual enjoyment.
- Possibility of multi-screen gaming (three screens).
- Adding a few bucks and you can buy Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 580 (the first GPU on the list).
How to buy GPU for Overwatch: Important Factors
Finding the best GPU for Overwatch is quite simple. Just read the minimum requirements in overwatch GPU benchmarks and go with anything above them. The better the GPU you have, the better the performance will be! And, of course, satisfaction. Here are some things on which you should pay attention too.
Gaming Performance:
Naturally, if you are a gamer, you will want your GPU to be good enough to run any game available in the best quality possible. If going for the best, that means you will have to part ways with a lot of cash, since some monster GPUs cost more than $1000.
Fortunately, to play Overwatch in HQ, there is no need to throw away lots of dollars. You will find that for the minimum requirements you can use GPUs like Radeon 4850, GeForce GTX460 or even some integrated cards. Everything better will give you an outstanding performance – for example, with gtx 950 overwatch will run very smoothly. Simply figure out how much money you are willing to spend and how good do you want your gaming performance to be – and that’s it. When buying a GPU for Overwatch, pay special attention to V-RAM and Clock Speed.
Video RAM:
As stated earlier, this abbreviation means Video Random Access Memory. It is basically like your RAM, but for GPU only. It is memory storage for graphics processes – the more you have, the better the image quality will be. If you are playing some very demanding games with a lot of details, you will need the most V-RAM you can find.
For Overwatch, it is recommended to have a GPU with at least 2 GB of V-RAM. In my list, you will find one GPU with 2 GB, one with 3, two with 4 and one with 8! Whichever you pick is a right choice, but going as high as possible is suggested.
Clock Speed:
The other side of the coin for excellent gaming performance. If V-RAM’s job is the picture quality, then this thing’s job is to follow up with some good speed. Clock speed is the speed at which your GPU is processing information. The more clock speed you have, the faster your GPU will process information, leading to better frames-per-second ratio and less lag.
For Overwatch, this is maybe more important than having high V-RAM. Yes, nice details are always enjoyable, but in this high-speed game, the good clock speed is a necessity. It is recommended to have at least 980 MHz, but my suggestions, of course, go way beyond that. Don’t be satisfied with what is suggested, go with more!
Cooling system:
Gaming will always put your GPU to heavy work, and that leads to overheating. Especially if you play games for hours and want to get as much performance as possible. Overheating is a bad thing, of course, and it can shorten your GPU’s life span, or even worse!
Having a good GPU cooling system for playing Overwatch is a must! Those monster GPUs that I mentioned before have some sick cooling systems like liquid nitrogen cooling or water cooling system. If you can afford those – be my guest. If not, go for GPUs with powerful fans. You can find cards with one, two and sometimes three fans. When buying, be sure they are durable and powerful!
Power:
It’s like cooling; power usage is also very important in preserving your GPU’s life. The better the GPU, the more power it will consume from your PSU (power supply unit). Again, if you have lots of money, buy some great PSU that will have more than enough power for every single component in your PC – and more to spare! If you can’t spend big (or simply don’t want to), then some 300-500W will suffice.
When buying a graphics card, always check its power consumption and recommended PSU. Luckily for you, Overwatch doesn’t require monster GPUs. If you purchase any of the cards from my list, then a standard 500W PSU is enough.
Final Words
Whether you play Hanzo or Doomfist or Mercy, you are going to need the best GPU you can get in order to have the best performance as possible. So, you also need the best graphics card for Overwatch. As you can see, there is no need to spend big to play this game in HQ and have good fps in the process.
You can buy high price graphics card if you can afford, that will solve all your gaming problems for sure. But if you want to buy a low budget GPU for Fortnite or Overwatch, then use our guide and recommendation list and buy yourself a great graphics card and enjoy your Overwatch domination.
